Tom L. Kaufmann is a doctoral researcher affiliated with BIFOLD, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and the CompCancer graduate school. His research focuses on computational methods to investigate tumor heterogeneity and cancer evolution with a focus on copy-number alterations.

Prior to joining BIFOLD, Tom Kaufmann completed his Bachelor and Master studies in Physics at Heidelberg University with a one year stay at University College London. Through research stays at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies and the German Cancer Research Center he became interested in the world of bioinformatics and computational cancer research.
